Regatta Communications

The official notice board will be located at https://labelleyachtclub.org/regatta/jp3HWlAaEa/#notice-board with an unofficial board located at Regatta Headquarters in the Community Center.

Sailing Instructions will be made available online at https://labelleyachtclub.org/regatta/jp3HWlAaEa no later than August 1, 2022.

Fleets (Ages as of August 7, 2022):

White Fleet (10 years and under)
Blue Fleet (11 – 12 years)
Red Fleet (13 – 16 years)

Eligibility: Competitors must be invited to participate based on regatta finishes at designated qualifying regattas or by receiving a Club Invitation (each ILYA area club with active Opti sailors may award on the criteria they determine).   

Fees and Registration: $145 per sailor. Must be received by August 2, 2022, for name to be included on t-shirt. Includes: two lunches and snacks for sailor, sailor souvenir, regatta award, Sunday Snacks, Youth Party for sailor (dinner) and more! Online registration and payment is available at LabelleYachtClub.org.

(Note: While registering, please be sure to register and pay for the Monday night youth party for any siblings or guests who are attending the regatta with you and any t-shirt for your sailor). Lunches beyond those for the skipper may also be ordered as part of registration.)

Supervision: Each sailor is required to have a parent or other designated adult in attendance that will indicate in writing that he/she is responsible for the sailor’s wellbeing at the regatta.

Communication:

Any communication between parents or coaches while racing is strictly prohibited and may result in a penalty to the competitor.

All electronic devices used for communication are prohibited while on the water (i.e., cell phone or radios).

Judges and Instructors: Experienced Judges, Race Committee and Jury members will be used. Sailing school instructors are not required to attend this regatta, but are welcomed. Those attending will be provided with special instructor services, i.e., complimentary lunches and hosted lodging, if requested.

Awards: All participants will receive a regatta award for their Overall finish; top ten receive trophies. In addition, the Traveling RWB Chip trophy will be given to First Place Overall, as are Top Three trophies for each fleet (White, Blue, Red) and Race Winner prizes for each completed race. Other prizes may also be awarded.

Watching the Regatta:

Spectator Boats: LYC will provide plenty of spectator boats. Regatta guests are encouraged to use LYC boats.

Coach Boats and Personal Spectator Boats: Public launch is available at the Oconomowoc City Launch. Cost/day is approximately $10 to $20, depending upon boat size. No pier space will be available at the regatta site; you will need to bring a mooring for all coach boats and any personal spectator boats. Taxi boats will be provided for moored boats.

Overnight Storage:

Optis may be kept at the regatta site at a place to be announced. Coach and spectator boats must be moored. Boat trailers will be parked in an area at the Oconomowoc Community Center. LYC accepts no responsibility for equipment.

Zebra Mussels: Unfortunately, LaBelle has them. Consequently, we will not be washing boats off at launching. Boats may be washed off at the end of the regatta.

Directions: Oconomowoc is about 40 miles east of Madison and 35 miles west of Milwaukee. Take I-94 (the interstate that connects Illinois and Minnesota with Wisconsin) to exit #282, Highway 67. Take HWY 67 about 3 miles, passing Whitman Plaza where HWY 67 becomes Summit Avenue. Take Summit Avenue to Main Street near the railroad tracks. Turn right. Take left at next stoplight which is Wisconsin Avenue, proceed west on Wisconsin Ave to the Community Center.
