Good morning, LYC members!
Looking out at our beautiful La Belle on this sunny day, I again find myself thankful for LYC. The wind and the waves keep the sailboats moving, and you - our members - keep the club moving in the right direction. The summer is going by quickly. We are looking forward to the Pig Roast and Celebration of Youth Sailing this Saturday, the 24th. Many thanks to Kurt and Carrie Begalke for chairing this event and to Tammi Hauck and Todd Jerred for hosting! If you haven’t already signed up, click here.
Invitations have gone out for this year’s Commodore’s Ball at the Oconomowoc Lake Club on Saturday, July 8th. Please join us as the whole Club gathers for a night of dining and dancing. Remember to RSVP by June 23 by returning the invitation enclosure or by clicking here.
LYC is honored to host the 2023 Wisconsin Yachting Association’s C-Scow Championship Regatta, August 4-6. Sailors from all over the state are converging on Lac La Belle for the water, the wind, and the wine! We are looking forward to sharing the camaraderie and competitive spirit that have been LYC’s trademark for 145 years. Registration is open now at https://labelleyachtclub.org/regatta/dLTn2pEBmt. More details are being added weekly. Many thanks to all who have been working hard to put this event together, especially Diane Gallo for chairing the regatta and to Lynn Harris and Colleen Hutt for chairing the Regatta Party on Saturday!
Allie Schrang (this year’s yearbook designer extraordinaire:) has created a Dropbox for LYC pics. Posting your best pics will help flesh out our club archive and make creating the yearbook a much smoother process each year. Metadata tagging and captions are helpful when possible, but it is as simple as dropping your pics into the right event folder. Thanks to all of our LYC members who spend time capturing the memories we make each summer and thanks to Allie for setting this up!

I’d also like to send a big shout out to a couple of our unsung heroes. Scoring for races and regattas is one of those silent services to our club. Many thanks to Jodi Carlson and Colleen Mihelich, without whom LYC life would be chaos:)
Finally, we are in need of someone to write a short piece each month for Blue magazine. You would coordinate with the Sailing School President and the Commodore, and write a very brief (200 words, I believe) blurb and throw in a few photos of LYC activities. It isn’t a difficult task, and I am happy to show you what is involved. Please get in touch if you are interested.
